Step by Step Instructions
- You may want to print this page for reference in case you have to restart your computer
- Go to your computers desktop.
- Center your cursor (The arrow) in the middle of the screen, away from the icons.
- Click the right mouse button. A small menu will pop up.
- Drag your cursor down until it is over the
word "Properties" then click. A dialog box appears named "Display
Properties".
- Click on the "Settings" tab. You should now see a picture of a Monitor and two sections near the bottom labeled "Colors"
and "Screen Area"
- Select High Color 16 bit from the "Drop Down Box"
(Click on the little black triangle if you are unsure, and you'll see your options).
Not all PC's have all the settings.
- Position your cursor in the "Screen
Area" section on the "Slider Bar," click on the "Slider
Bar" and slide it to the right until it says 800 x 600.
- Click on the "Apply"
Button on the lower right corner. A message will pop up that says "Restart
the computer with the new color settings?", followed by "Apply
the new color settings with out restarting?". Select "Apply
without restarting", and click on the "OK Button".
(Depending on your computer hardware, you may be required to restart. Keep in
mind that, if you restart, you'll lose this page and have to log back on to your internet account.)
- A message appears: "Windows will
now resize your desktop, this could take a few seconds, during which your screen might
flicker. If windows does not reappear correctly, wait 15 seconds, and your original
settings will be restored". Click on the "OK Button".
- A message appears: "You resized
your desktop do you want to keep this setting". (NOTICE HOW THE SIZE
OF THE ICONS ON YOUR SCREEN HAVE CHANGED!). Click the "Yes Button"
and you are DONE! (If you get "squiggly lines" and your
screen doesn't resize properly, you will need to upgrade your system and/or monitor to take
advantage of higher resolutions.)
